Anniversary Programmes

It never ceases to amaze me the specialisms that some of our members have. At our Convention last June, Terry Hazell demonstrated how the life of one Salvationist could be documented through an extraordinary collection of programmes. Such programmes could also be used to document changes in the Army’s musical landscape. However, the collection of Anniversary Programmes really is a specialism and here is one interesting example from Darlington in 1928.

The inside pages contain the names of all the former officers stationed at the Corps including such famous names as Lieutenant Edward Higgins (1883). The Commanding Officers in 1928 were Adjutant and Mrs Clifford and Winifred Grinstead and their hope was through the Anniversary weekend’s efforts “to secure new flags and carry out improvements to the mercy seat”.
