The S.A. 78 Regal Association
For Collectors of Vintage Sound pertaining to
The Salvation Amy
|
Colin Waller reports another excellent year for the Association, which now has over forty members around the world. In recent months, his quarterly newsletters have produced several articles on unusual labels of Salvation Army interest as well as features on musical individuals who appeared on some of the Army's recordings. There have also been some exciting revelations concerning the Swedish Territory's own issue of 78's from the 1950s. Many of them feature Stockholm VII and Tranas Bands. David has also published an interesting article entitled "The Generals on Record".
The aims of the Association are:
To provide a forum whereby collectors of Salvation Army 78 rpm records and other relevant vintage sound media can exchange sale,
swap or want lists and provide opportunity to preserve this aspect of Salvation Army history.
To maintain links with former Salvationists.
To use this common interest to bring others under the influence of the Gospel.
A quarterly newsletter containing 78 gossip and features on the various sections, soloists and personalities along with
swop, sale and want lists is published. The Association confines itself to recordings issues prior to 1958, the end of the
S.A. Regal era (or later provided it is a 78 rpm disc).
